Impressions
Donovan & Siegel, 2005
Magnesium plate
7″ x .25″ x 9″ (each plate)
Impressions consists of two metal moulds, each with a single column of text in which the two sides of an argument are deconstructed and intertwined into a mirrored set of low and high relief text. Each plate is a stamping mould of the other, and the dialectic becomes decipherable only by considering both plates together.
